Be careful

You may have noticed that Ancestry has been making a lot of changes. With changes, often come problems. Several people have noted that sometimes the highlighting is wrong on a census manuscript. That is, the wrong family is highlighted. Sometimes it happens immediately, other times it happens after you move away from the image to get a page number then go back again.

Please be careful, and make sure you're inputting the correct family.

  1. For the families on the "B" page, I have been inputting the page number after finishing the family. I hate that when I return to the page after getting the page number from the "A" page, my family is no longer high lighted!

    1. I noticed that when I refresh the page after coming back to it, it rehighlights the family I need.

  2. Regarding Ancestry: could you please address whether you prefer outside sources (i.e. death cert from familysearch) to be added as "Other Sources," or "Web Links."

  3. We prefer that you put in those non-Ancestry sources as Other Sources instead of Web Links because then you can attach it to a particular fact. It's easier for checkers to notice those other sources, particularly in the Classic Ancestry site. As you move to the New Ancestry, the web links are right under the other sources and it's more noticeable. However, the web link still won't have the nice little line that connects to the fact it supports. We prefer this, but it is not a rule.
